Creativity and Wellbeing
LionMouth Rural Centre firmly believes that creative expression is helpful to healthy human development and recovery from many forms of mental distress. We believe that the creative process is significant in promoting general well-being and enhancing positive mental health.
Art can be transformational - the use of art and creative techniques for people with mental health problems can to help draw on their inner, creative resources while exploring personal issues in a safe, contained space. International and UK research has found that many people with mental health problems find art helpful, either on their own or as part of a range of therapies. People who have used art therapies say they provide a greater sense of choice and control than medication or talking therapies.
LionMouth Rural Centre can offer a range of creative activities including drawing and painting sessions, pottery, ceramics, mosaics and crafts. Call us to see which activities are up and running, and what workshops are coming up.
